I have been noticing that a surprising number of people I know who have made
or tried to make a face part over at Akbar's Face Factory have been complaining
about how Akbar is a fraud or is stealing their clams away. This is very untrue,
and I am here to tell you why.
Akbar is the kind of person who accepts almost everything.
My proof, you ask? Try looking up some kind of face part, any kind -- flower,
brown hair, etc. Are all of the parts nice-looking, or even something you would
buy? Hmm, well, definitely not me.
So maybe, the part is just a little bit off what Akbar was
looking for. But he still accepted it, because the designer wanted to try to
sell it. Good luck to them.
Akbar's biggest job is to keep Whyville looking like Whyville.
For example, if someone made a hair that looked very good, but very lifelike
(unlike Whyville), he might not accept the part. He has accepted parts that
are a lot more realistic than they used to be -- just look at old pictures in
the Times to see what I mean.
And Akbar is certainly not stealing anybody's clams. Yes, clams
are very precious, but you spent your clams on the face part you wanted to make!
You should have had a good idea if he would accept it, with the rules and the
templates available now. Imagine doing this a year ago, when the rules weren't
written out and the templates were not available at all!
The point is, you spent the clams on your own; it was your
decision to spend them.
Akbar usually rejects parts for understandable reasons. You
might get a Y-mail like this when it happens:
I am sorry, but your face part, "whatever you named
the part" was not approved for sale in my shop.
Some people on Whyville have been using this part inappropriately,
and therefore I cannot accept this part.
Akbar has good intentions most of the time. If he has a certain
reason for not accepting your part, he will always tell you why at the end of
the message.
Let's see what we have gone over: Akbar is, as you can tell,
not a perfectionist. He is very accepting of any part you might make in the
near future, as long as you follow those simple rules and templates in the Factor.
If you are afraid that Akbar might not accept your face part,
then don't spend the clams and then say, "Akbar stole my clams!" if
he happens to reject it.
And Akbar always has a reason for the non-acceptance of your
part. He always tells you the reason clearly through Y-mail.
Akbar is no fraud, and certainly no clam stealer.
Bye for now,
