Hey, Whyvillians! I hope you all had a Merry Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hannukah, whatever you may have been celebrating!
This article is to propose a different kind of Media Hour, run by citizens. This idea was suggested by CW scyllaCat a few months ago in a BBS, and he asked what we thought about it. There were quite a few suggestions from citizens, and all of them were great.
I came up with an idea to have a few, certain citizens who would be named "Media Experts." These people would meet with each other every week, and maybe MediaWiz, or a City Worker, and pick a few "Shows of the Week." They would then publish them in the Times, and wait for that one Saturday (or day of Media Hour), and be invited up on stage. They would then be able to discuss the shows of the week with the audience, and listen to their opinions on the shows.
I interviewed my friend nycshane, to see what he thought of this idea.
Supercow9: What would you think of a Media Hour run by citizens?
nycshane: Of course, I remember going to Media Hour a long while ago. I would love it back, but MediaWiz just would be a better host than citizens. I heard he's a part-time reporter or something for some newspaper. I wouldn't want citizens doing it because they could abuse power (like putting up bad words on the board) . . . If they did it would have to be citizens CW's trust.
Supercow9: Would you have any suggestions for this new Media Hour?
nycshane: Well . . . yes. Make CW's pick citizens they know to be nice and that wouldn't abuse the power for the job.
Supercow9: What kind of flaws could you see for this new Media Hour?
nycshane: Again, people abusing power, only putting their friends' quotes on the board and of course, biases on one side of the topic.
Supercow9: Thanks for the interview!
Anyways, Whyvillians. There you have it. A few opinions on this idea, from citizens. Post your other ideas in this article's BBS, and hopefully a City Worker will read this article and suggest it to City Hall.
Until next time,
Supercow9
