Auld Lang Syne

Maddimoo researches the popular New Year's song.

Auld Lang Syne is, perhaps, my favorite, and (sadly) only New Year's song I know, but did anyone ever look into the meaning of the song? Well, I did!

The most commonly sung song for English-speakers on New Year's Eve is "Auld Lang Syne," an old Scottish song that was first published by the poet Robert Burns in the 1796 edition of the book, Scots Musical Museum. Burns transcribed it (and made some refinements to the lyrics) after he heard it sung by an old man from the Ayrshire area of Scotland, Burns's homeland.

Just over a week ago my town had a terrible incident occur at a nearby school. Our oldest and most appreciated staff member was diagnosed with anemia without even knowing it.

He has had diabetes for many years now, and recently found that diabetes can be a major cause of anemia.

Through research I found that people with cancer, diabetes, chronic kidney disease (CKD), heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are at greater risk of contracting this illness.
