As almost all of you Whyvillians know, there is a new program on Whyville by the name of WhyEat. Many of you questioned what it was at first, and how it may help us in our real lives. Basically, WhyEat was designed to help childeren and teenagers learn to eat healthier.

According to http://www.marketresearch.com, children's diets are high on fat, sugar, salt, and excess calories. This means that kids these days aren't eating healthy enough. How does WhyEat, a program on Whyville, help in our daily lives? When you eat on this new, fantastic program, you must monitor how much you eat and what you eat so you can remain healthy.

For example, if you eat french fries, a burger, and soda for every meal on Whyville you will begin to look overweight. If you eat a salad and have a water for just one meal and don't eat anything else that day, you will look too thin. So, when you eat a balanced breakfast, such as an egg omelet, wheat toast, orange juice, and water, and then have balanced meals for the rest of the day (including a healthy snack), you will look normal and continue to have the desired look of a healthy Whyvillian.

The same thing applies to real life. If you eat too much, you gain weight. If you don't eat enough, you will look very thin. When you eat a balanced meal, you will remain at a healthy weight. WhyEat is teaching people that if you eat the right way, you will look the way you want.

Schools are beginning contributing to encouraging children to eat healthy. According to http://www.webmd.com, school lunches are leaner and more nutritious than they were a decade ago. Schools are actually serving us real food! And you thought the "mystery meat" was a little too much of a mystery!

In addition, you must remember, although it doesn't apply to us Whyvillians, in real life you do have to exercise to remain at a healthy, desired weight. http://www.webmd.com also says that childeren who watch television during meals tend to eat more junk food. This means kids who sit in front of the T.V. eat a lot and then don't exercise to burn off the excess calories. But wait, you say, "Isn't pushing the buttons on the remote exercise enough?" No! It sure isn't! You should be exercising daily for at least 30 minutes a day, which is what nutritionists say. So, remember, WhyEat really does help encourage a healthy lifestyle and we should all continue to learn how to achieve just that.
