Hey, Whyvillians! Today, I'm going to try and put one of Whyville's toughest games, Zero Gravity, into perspective.
To start off, we need to get to the Zero Gravity chamber! For the first step, choose "WASA" in the bus menu. You should be transported to outside a building, that looks a little weird. There's a big tower, and a huge ball! Click on the "Spitzer" button, which should be in readable red letters. Now, you'll have entered the building, where the security clerk is at the desk. Wait for him to give you a four-digit code to get in to the lab. We're looking for the Zero Gravity code, which should be the first one in his chat bubble. Enter the modern-style elevator, and say your code. You'll go up to the Chamber, which looks like a room with a glass floor, and four different-colored boxes, along the walls. Now, the instructions.
The object of the game is to use projectiles to fling yourself across the room, and hit the lights in the corresponding order. But be careful not to hit a wall, or the wrong color! Otherwise, you'll have to start all over again.
To start out, make sure that you have lots of projectiles. I usually make sure that I have over 150, so that I don't run out while I'm playing. Buy cheap projectiles, like Sad, or Yuck! Return to the chamber, and start. The computer will highlight a box, and you have to hit that box with your avatar by, as I said earlier, flinging projectiles. Eventually, once you hit that box, the computer will highlight that same box, and another one! You'll have to hit both those boxes in that order to stay in the game. But what's with those angles? Why aren't I going in the direction that my projectiles do? I'll explain all of that in this article.
To make that angles thing easier, I'm using a Whyville example. Click the "instructions" link just under the chat box. You should have a window pop-up that has (somewhere on the page) a circle with lots of marks on it. Across from each other, attached by a red line, are the numbers 0, and 180. Print this page out, or try drawing a similar one on a pad of paper. Once you've got the page, cut out the outer ring on the circle (or protractor). Then, once you've cut out that, try to cut out the small, inner circle. Now, try placing the inner ring around your Whyville face in the chat screen. Try to align the circle so that 270 is facing the bottom.
It was Sir Issac Newton who said, "For each action, there's an equal and opposite reaction." This means that if you were to throw something one way, then you would go the opposite way. Try throwing something at 0 degrees. Say "throw (the name of your projectile) 0." Don't include the parentheses, though. Your avatar should fling towards the left side of the screen; the opposite direction of 0 on your protractor.
Now, for each throw you go about a third of the way across the box. Try throwing your projectiles in the direction needed for the box. Just remember, you'll go in the opposite direction of your projectiles.
Okay, now it's time to play. First, the computer will highlight a box. Try and use your projectiles to make your body hit that box. Once you hit that box, the computer will highlight two boxes, and you have to hit them in the order that it highlights. Once you get to Level 4, with 4 boxes being highlighted, and you win that, you'll get a Zero Gravity License in your Satchel. Get to and beat level 10, and you'll have your 10 salary points. Just remember, hit all the boxes in the order, and don't hit any walls! Hitting those walls will take you back to level 1!
I hope I've put this game in to perspective, Whyvillians! Have fun playing!
