Kiss me softly,
Ignore that scar,
I'll be all right,
Just don't go too far,
Let me see you,
Look into my eyes,
Do you hear those sounds?
Are you listening to those cries?
Listen when I tell you,
Love is brutal,
But so are your tattoos.

Speak carefully,
You know what to say,
To make things better,
To make it go away,
Be careful not to hurt yourself,
It's not easy to understand,
Knowing that this is permanent,
But we can play pretend,
And listen when I tell you,
Love is brutal,
But so are your tattoos.

Keep whispering,
I like the taste of your words,
I know you hate my sonnets,
They speak of things absurd,
But keep your distance,
Don't come too close,
I can be dangerous,
I'm best in a small dose,
Just listen when I tell you,
Love is brutal,
But so are your tattoos.
