I've had a ton of suggestions for different bands and artists from different genres for future articles, it's so hard to keep up with them! I've listened to every single band/artist that was suggested, and I'm trying to add more genres than just what I listen to. With that, I've got two things to tell you.
1. I've decided to bring my sister, Kelli, into this series, by having her help with the artists (mostly country) that she listens to. In this article, she had one artist to cover, so hope she did a good job. :)
2. I officially need your help! If you have a band or artist that you would like to suggest, simply y-mail me them. I'm expecting to get a TON of response from this, so bear with me if I don't put your band/artist in the next edition. Eventually, I'll probably redo this entire series again and include the stuff that I didn't have before, so nothing to worry about! Also (this is important), only suggest for the upcoming week. So, this week you'll want to suggest for D; when D comes out you'll suggest for E, etc. Because of this, I won't submit the article until Tuesday, so you'll need to get your suggestions in on Monday.
Carrie Underwood: In her few years as a country artist, she has made two albums: Carnival Ride and Some Hearts. Some of the best songs she's ever sung include "Before He Cheats", "So Small" and "Jesus Take The Wheel".
Cartel: Over the past couple of years, they've released two albums: Chroma and their self-titled album, Cartel. You may have heard them from their song "Honestly". The video for this song is about people meeting online and actually seeing each other in real life, but not realizing it. Their newest single, "Lose It" is on their MySpace page.
Chiodos: If you're not a fan of UnderOath or Silverstein, I'd suggest you don't listen to it. However, if you love screaming lyrics and amazing rhythm, I would definitely suggest to check them out. They toured over the summer on Warped Tour, so if you went, you probably saw them there. Their newest album, Bone Palace Ballet had the newest single "Is it Progression if a Cannibal Uses a Fork?" on it. For a really good song, you should listen to "To Trixie and Reptile: Thanks For Everything" from the Warped Tour 2007 Compilation.
Christina Aguilera: Whatever you'd like to call her (Christina, X-tina, etc) she's just come to the 2000's from the 1990's, and we'd all say she's here to stay! Her first album, Christina Aguilera was released in the early 90's. I sure can remember "Genie in a Bottle" as well as "What a Girl Wants". Remember them? After that, she released Stripped and then "disappeared" for a while. She's back with the newest album, Back to Basics, featuring "Candy Man" and "Ain't No Other Man", as well as others.
Cobra Starship: While most people who classify them as alternative, I necessarily wouldn't. The movie Snakes on a Plan? Cobra Starship made that song. "Snakes on a Plane: Bring It" has a fabulous music video that includes William Beckett from The Academy Is... You should also check out "Send My Love to the Dancefloor" on their MySpace page or on their PureVolume page.
Coheed and Cambria: CAC is four albums strong and has a ton of amazing music that you should try listening to. Their latest release, Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow, includes "The Running Free", which is an amazing song all in itself. Seriously, they just draw you in. Their other albums include Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 and The Second Stage Turbine Blade.
Cute is What We Aim For: The name sounds like a rock band, but they're more pop-rock than anything. While they've only released one album (The Same Old Blood Rush With a New Touch), they're still huge. They toured on Warped Tour this year, if that helps describe how big they're getting. Their first single, "There's a Class for This" was quickly followed by "The Curse of Curves". If you haven't listened to them, seriously, just go buy the CD. Don't waste time listening to their PureVolume page; you'll love them anyway.
Chris Brown: For some reason, Chris has been one of the top recommendations, and I can see why. After his first self-titled album came out, he released tons of songs as singles, including "Run It", "Gimme That" and "Say Goodbye". He's just released his next album, Exclusive in November and there's already two singles for that one: "Wall To Wall" and "Kiss Kiss" (Featuring T-Pain).
Colbie Calliat: Even though I said that I would never, ever, ever write about Colbie, I will anyway, since she seems to be a popular requesting choice. Colbie is the definition of a MySpace success story. If you live in Georgia and listen to Star94, then she tells her discovery story during almost every commercial break. Therefore, she's big. She released her very first album, Coco this summer and released the first single, "Bubbly" on her MySpace page. Since then, "Bubbly" has been a huge hit, it's so hard to stay away from it.
So there you go, guys. Nine bands and artists that were both from my personal collection and requested. I'm sorry that I couldn't use everyone's suggestions, but I tried to include something for everyone's.
