Author's Note: This is an addition to the article last week entitled "Abercrombie or Aberzombie." Though one is not needed to understand the other, I suggest you read them both.

I glide over the stamped concrete and into the air condition store. Heaven, pure heaven, I can't help but think as the air conditioning moves takes me over.

But I do not rest for long. There are aisles of clothes to look through . . . and I only have a few short hours.

Am I at some big fancy department store?

Nope.

I am walking in to my town's local Salvation Army; one of the best places on earth for bargain shoppers.

If I were to tell all that I love about thrift stores, this article would take up an issue of the Times all by itself. So, I'm going to outline the best things that these Bargain-Shopper Safe Havens have to offer.

Low, Low Prices

This is probably the most important consideration for me. I don't get paid for grades, and I have no allowance; accordingly, my budget is extremely low. Yet I still feel the insane urges to "shop til' I drop." (What girl doesn't?) Thrift stores are my handy solution to all this. You can get decent clothes for a fraction of what they would cost if you were to buy them retail. Plus, thrift stores often have discounts that bring prices down anywhere from 30 to 75%!

Designer Clothes

I realize that I wrote an article last week about the evils of designer clothes. I looked back at it and hit myself in the head for being such a hypocrite. Because, I too wear designer clothes.

But not from designer stores.

You guessed it. I get all my clothes from the local thrift store. Most of my wardrobe consists of Abercrombie and Hollister tops that I paid under three dollars for. The most I've ever paid for designer jeans was six dollars.

Variety

Looking like you spent the night in a trashcan not your thing? No worries! Because thrift store often times take in donations from people, there is no shortage of variety. Looking for an absolutely terrible hula-dancer haiwaiian shirt? Look no farther! Or maybe you're looking for a trend so new that no one else has thought of it yet? Thrift stores are definitely a place for you.

Giving Back

Many people know that thrift store take in people's clothing donations. What they don't know is that most thrift stores give up to 60% of all profits to charities! You may say "ew" at wearing clothes that someone else has worn, but if you pay two dollars for a shirt and wear it once, wasn't it worth giving something back to the community?

So, that's all I really have to say on this particular subject. I'm sure you BBS-ers will have a ton of . . . ahem . . . interesting comments, and I look forward to responding to you all!

So this is sims2girl, going shopping,
