What is Dragons in Whyville all about?
Dragons have come to Whyville! We have partnered with Concord Consortium to bring you a fun and engaging way to learn about genetics and trait inheritance by breeding dragons. Visit the dragon book in your satchel to get started!
How do I get a Dragon?
To get a dragon of your very own, visit a
Lair where two parent dragons are breeding. When there, grab a basket and click on an egg to collect it. Follow the on-screen prompts and after a short wait, your egg will hatch. Congratulations! You now own a dragon!
How do I get a better Dragon ?
Not happy with your dragon? You can breed with other dragons to produce better dragons. Visit
Lairs to find dragons or ask your friends if they want to breed dragons. Be sure to use the scope to view a potential mate's genes to find out what traits your new dragon will inherit.
How do I use the scope?
To use the scope, click on it in the console or chat, "scope." Once the scope appears on your avatar, click on an egg or dragon to view its genetic makeup.
You can use the scope to help determine what dragons you should breed with in order to complete challenges (more on those later!).

Can I breed my Dragon?
Yes! You can breed your dragon with other dragons owned by Whyvillians as well as lair dragons. To do so, click on the heart icon in the console. You will see a heart appear on your avatar. You can then click on another dragon to breed with it. An egg will emerge so be sure to use the basket to catch and hatch it.
What do I do with the Labs ?
Some of the challenges too challenging? Can't figure out how to produce the dragon you need? Hit the lab! Doing the labs in your dragon book in your satchel will provide you with the essential information you need to progress through the challenges. The labs will help you understand how and what traits are passed on to offspring. The labs are an excellent place to start your dragon journey. You will receive one clam salary for each lab you successfully complete.
What can I do with my Dragon? (Challenges)
Besides the awesomeness of simply owning a dragon, you can use your dragon to accomplish certain goals which will earn you clams. Your dragon may be suited for one challenge but not another. These challenges are varied and may require some careful thinking and breeding on your part. Check your dragon book in your satchel for the complete list of challenges available.
