Whyville Outbreak Alert
The Whyville CDC reports outbreaks of possibly infectious diseases.

The graph below keeps track, day by day, of how many citizens are suffering from each disease. Use the drop-down menu to view graphs of all infectious diseases in Whyville.

Spikey-20 variant: First case detected on Friday, February 12, 2021.

What can you do? Whyvillians have been asked to support the CDC's work in three ways:

  1. Visit the newly established Outbreak Headquarters to contribute to the Case Files. This will help the CDC track the virus and see how it spreads. Encourage all infected citizens to come and post! If they can't, you could interview them and post their details. After reading the Case Files board, we urge you to help us identify the disease vector, i.e. how the disease is spread from one person to the next.

  2. Visit the Why-Pox History section of the CDC. History teaches many lessons. We encourage both those who have experienced Why-Pox 2002 and those who haven't to review what happened in 2002 to see what clues past experience may offer.

  3. Visit the Why-Pox Lab and use the Infection Simulator to understand how diseases spread. Once you understand how it works, use the Epidemic Simulator to learn more about the dynamics of an epidemic. Your analysis will help us predict what might happen so that we may take steps to contain outbreaks in Whyville.
