Firstly, to let you all know, this week's issue is a double/triple issue. We'll publish an announcement of the Senate winners next week, but there probably won't be another Times until September. It's a pretty big paper, though, so we hope you won't mind! The reason for the hiatus is that the Editor is going back to school this year, so he needs an extra week or two to get used to taking classes and doing homework again. :-)

The race to become Whyville's first Senator reached a new fervor pitch this week when the three remaining candidates, JayR, Amazing and Giggler01 met at the Greek Theater this past Thursday evening for Whyville's first ever official Debate. Citizens piled into the room, and clamored at the entrance to get in once the room was filled up, which was pretty much instantaneous. Read the official transcript of the debate to find out what was said by the candidates!

The Election has begun. Go to the City Hall announcement page (right after you login) to find the voting -- you may need to reload the page to get it. Voting in the petitons or polls was for choosing the three final candidates. Cast your Election vote today, right after reading through the debate and checking out the platforms of: Giggler01, Amazing, and JayR.

In other news, City Hall announced last week that citizens who act nicely (or at least, don't behave badly ;) will receive a large clam bonus at the end of August. Three cheers for the first official "good behavior" awards!

The Whyville Times Summer Staff Writers -- Giggler01, Wilfire9, and TIKE -- are encouraged to send in new science and news articles, to maintain their status as Summer Staff Writers. Those of you who are interested in getting to this position, read over the instructions for the summer and prepare for the Fall Staff Writers' contest, coming in a month or so.

I hope everyone's read up on superid's announcement of a possible Whyville magazine! Post your feelings about in the BBSes for this week's articles about The Whyvillian, by TIKE and jango321.

Finally, all authors should keep in mind that not only will the best Times pieces have a good chance of being published in The Whyvillian, there's a chance that the Times may be published in another nationally-published newspaper -- can't tell you much more than that. Keep your eyes peeled on the Times to learn more!

Stay informed, in and out of Whyville,
Times Editor
