Even in the depths of seemingly unending fear, there will always be an element of serenity. Sometimes it's overlooked, however, sometimes it's boldly in front of us the entire time. In my second painting from my Creatures of Peace series, I chose to illustrate this concept by painting a calm little creature curled up in what would appear to be a chaotic mystery. There are roots intertwined in a darkness that almost looks as if it could swallow you, until the creature captivates you, almost as if it were an invitation to slip into slumber inside the tree also.
I painted this during my last semester of university. Life was busy. Chaotic. The thought of living out my future scared me at times, but at the end of the day, I'd take a deep breath, set my emotions aside, and become this little creature. I found peace, despite all of the stress in my life. Beautiful, beautiful peace.
