Health Alert: SPIKEY-20 New Variant

SPIKEY-20 is Back as a New Variant!

SPIKEY-20 hit our town last fall, hitting citizens with bright pink nubs or spikes and a severe cough. Citizens fought back by taking preventive measures and beat the epidemic back in mere weeks. Now, SPIKEY-20 is back as a new variant: nubs of a different color and a new type of cough. SPIKEY-20 new variant also appears to be more infectious and more virulent, causing citizens to be sick for more days. The illness can be severe enough to prevent citizens from earning their Whyville salaries during their sickest days!

Learn about Whyville's history with infectious diseases in the Whyville Times: WhyPox, Dragon Swooping Cough, and SPIKEY-20 Original.

Are you at risk? What can you do to protect yourself and your fellow citizens?

Protect yourself and others.

  • See if you have been infected! Get tested by CDC Staff Member Timmy. Remember, you might be infected even if you are not showing symptoms.
  • If you're not infected and have not been infected before, get vaccinated right away by CDC Staff Member Timmy. Remember, vaccines can't help you if you're sick already. Also, this vaccine requires 2 doses to be effective. Get your first dose ASAP, then come back next week to get your second dose!
  • Learn about and buy preventive measures from CDC Staff Member Jimmy in the City Hall Lobby including:
