Kinematic Attic Notebook : Speeding Up & Slowing Down
Here's the data you collected on how disks move in different rooms. You may have noticed that different rooms have different deceleration rates. This is because their surfaces are different and different surfaces have different amounts of friction.

The next step is to calculate the rate of deceleration from your measurements.

Click on one of your data lines to display it in the calculation boxes. Perform the calculations and submit your answer. If correct, it will be added into the collaborative graph as a data point, and you'll earn 5 clams!

Sorry, you haven't recorded any data so far. Please go back and measure how fast your disks come to rest in different rooms.
WHERE:
INITIAL SPEED: pixels per second
SECONDS: seconds
DECELERATION RATE =
pixels per second per second
Enter the deceleration rate here.
